Three candidates for Equity President election
Dave Eager, Jean Rogers and Malcolm Sinclair (pictured above) are standing for the position of Equity President. Ballot papers for this ballot, and for the election of the Equity Council and two important Equity committees, will be posted to members on 6 June. We will know the result on 11 July.
There are 103 candidates running for 46 places on the Equity Council with 53 of them battling it out for the 17 seats on the Council General List.
There is an election for the Equity Appeals Committee with nine candidates standing for five places but the Standing Orders Committee will be elected unopposed as there are five candidates for five seats.
Ten seats on the Equity Council are also uncontested, so the candidates in these seats will be elected unopposed. The seats are: Choreographers, Chorus and Ensemble, Opera, Theatre Designers, Theatre Directors, TiE and Young People's Theatre, London Area, Midlands Area, Northern Ireland and South West Area.
All election materials will be posted to members on 6 June. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to give you the opportunity to vote on-line — the law demands that elections for trade union Presidents and Councils must be conducted by post.
